Rancho Cienega's Class Parks and Foundation for Second Chances are hosting a community wide Health Festival | "A Taste of Health and Fitness" .. Saturday, April 24th at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex from 11:00am - 4:00pm. There will be a 5K Walk/Run that begins at 10:00am, and ends with an obstacle course.
Foundation for Second Chances, Inc. has hosted its Annual Community Health Festival since 2007. FFSC wants to help raise awareness about the health and economic consequences millions of people face because they are uninsured. This health festival provides individuals without health coverage access to basic preventive services, screenings and information about the importance of health care coverage programs. This festival sends a strong message about the importance of health care coverage.
Community Health Festival Activities will include:
- Activities for kids, youth and seniors
- Exhibits: businesses & organizations
- Food: health food choices, organic, healthy ethnic, etc
- Entertainment: L.I.F.T Concert, dancers, demonstrations,
singers, videos - Mobile Vans
- Games and activities for children and youth
- Learning village with workshops, seminars, literacy series
- Insurances companies and state agencies to enroll people in
health care programs - 5k Walk/Run
- Children/Family Obstacle Course

The Festival's Title Sponsor is the Milken Family Foundation, and is also being hosted in association with Bring Back Gym, West Adams Neighborhood Council, Brotherhood Crusade, Honorary Chair Councilmember Herb J. Wesson, Jr. and The 10th District Early Childhood, Youth and Senior Commission.

The purpose of the Milken Family Foundation is to discover and advance inventive and effective ways of helping people help themselves and those around them lead productive and satisfying lives. The Foundation advances this mission primarily through its work in education and medical research.

Bring Back Gym is purposed with bringing back the love of physical culture to children by working closely with middle and high schools to create more inclusive P.E. programs via after school activities designed to promote a life long commitment to fitness.
